Yair Leibowitz served as a fighter pilot in the Israeli Air Force. Following his discharge and the completion of his law studies (magna cum laude), he interned at the Supreme Court of Israel under Judge Eliezer Goldberg, and at the firm itself. Mr. Leibowitz has many years of experience covering all areas of civil and commercial litigation, in all courts, and in every aspect of substantive law, through his representation of the firm’s clients. Clients include leading corporations in Israel and abroad, the majority of banks in Israel, overseas banks, investment houses, insurance companies, various financial bodies, institutions, public companies, other businesses, international and overseas companies, businesspeople, and private clients.
Mr. Leibowitz has amassed extensive experience managing complex, large-scale lawsuits on a broad range of legal matters, including class actions, derivative suits, the capital market, banking, credit cards, corporate litigation, shareholder disputes, company acquisition, agreements and contracts, international transactions, distribution and agency agreements, claims against accountants regarding financial statements, real estate claims, insolvency, professional liability of attorneys and other professionals, mass media and defamation, privacy protection, and more. Mr. Leibowitz has successfully managed many of the largest, most complex suits ever filed in Israel. He advises his clients throughout all the stages of the dispute, from the pre-trial stage, through preparing for or attempting to forestall litigation, to the final decision or settlement.
Drawing on vast experience and exceptional expertise in all areas of insurance law, Mr. Leibowitz handles the full spectrum of insurance matters, which include claims against insurance companies, representation of insurance and reinsurance companies, bank insurance claims, liability and property insurance, consultations on policy development and insurance acquisition/sales, and much more. This outstanding expertise and experience in the insurance field have led to his involvement in some of the largest and most intricate D&O (directors and officers liability insurance) cases ever filed in Israel. Furthermore, he has successfully concluded a substantial portion of such claims without the need for legal proceedings.
For many years, Mr. Leibowitz has been consistently ranked among the leading litigators in Israel by the global ranking guide, Chambers and Partners. He also serves as an arbitrator and mediator for complex business disputes, which are either brought to him by clients or referred to him by the courts.
Mr. Leibowitz has also served as an assistant lecturer for courses offered at the Hebrew University of Jerusalem in tort law (under Prof. Yitzhak Englard, Supreme Court justice) and criminal law (under Prof. Miriam Gur-Arye). He also sat on the editorial board of Mishpatim, the Hebrew University Law Review.
Mr. Leibowitz lectures in various forums and seminars held by the Israel Bar Association, as well as academic seminars on various subjects, including D&O and related claims, matters related to insurance, exemption and indemnification law, and so forth.
